I instantly felt comfortable with Jane, as if she already knew me! She brought fun, lightness and encouragement to our sessions and I came away from them feeling energised and with a renewed sense of self-belief. She shared many tools and techniques to raise my self-awareness and to help me manage my time more efficiently. She also explained my DISC profile in detail and was spot on with her many insights. She helped me to realise my strengths and achievements and acknowledge myself for them, rather than disregard them as is my usual pattern, bolstering my self-esteem. She showed me that I don’t need to change who I am to become successful but more how I can build on who I already am to get the success I know I can achieve.

Busting Phobias

Do you feel your phobia controls your life and holds you back from achieving more?  You’re not alone!

It doesn’t matter how hard you try, you can’t talk yourself out of your phobia.  You may have tried talking to friends and family.  Yet, they don’t have any solutions and, to some extent, you feel embarrassed to discuss it anymore.  Your loved ones may seem frustrated with you for “being silly” and perhaps make light of your predicament.

There is nothing funny about phobias; they are an intense emotional response to something or a situation that far outweighs the actual threat. Whilst being afraid of snakes seems reasonable, bearing in mind they can be deadly, avoiding any social event outside in a rural area, may be debilitating and socially isolating.

Why do phobias manifest?

The physiological response to the trigger is often a learnt behaviour. When you see, hear, feel, or sense the trigger, strong neural pathways are linked to an extreme response and this is called Classical Conditioning.

How will a life coach help bust my phobia?

In our session we will identify, in detail, the strategies you have learnt to become phobic. As you reveal your pattern of behaviours and thinking, I will reorganise them, jumble them up and as such, the song you keep playing around your phobia can no longer be played. I help to permanently “scratch the record” and the intensity diminishes. Humour is major part of the process and therefore, it is in a safe non-threatening environment that we use laughter and positive thinking to free you from a long-term affliction.

Often, one session is enough to bust the phobia and free you from the intense emotional responses. A phobic response is a habit, and therefore, follow up sessions may be required to keep you “topped up” as necessary.
